Bangladesh Pratidin celebrates 4th anniversary

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Communications Minister Obaidul Quader present bouquets to Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, chairman of the East-West Media Group Ltd, on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of publication of Bangladesh Pratidin at EWMGL conference room in Bashundhara residential area in the city on Saturday.

Bangladesh Pratidin, the country’s largest-circulated Bangla daily, celebrated its 4th anniversary of publication Saturday at the East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL) Complex in the city’s Bashundhara Residential Area.The anniversary abuzz with life throughout the day as political leaders, cultural personalities, eminent citizens, readers and many others from all walks of life gathered there to rejoice with the employees of the newspaper on the occasion.They greeted the newspaper with bouquet and wished the success of the largest daily of the country.

The anniversary celebrations also featured a colourful cultural programme featuring live performances by a number of singers, model, actor and showbiz celebrities.

East West Media Group office premises have been dressing up in a festive look from last three days to mark the occasion.

On Friday, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan inaugurated the anniversary programme at the conference room of the East West Media Complex when a giant cake was cut.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Bangladesh Pratidin editor Naem Nizam, executive editor Pir Habibur Rahman and journalists and employees of the newspaper greeted the guests at the anniversary function.

In the daylong occasion, former president and special envoy to the prime minister HM Ershad, former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, Women and Children Affairs Minister Meher Afroj Chumki, veteran politicians Noor-e-Alam Siddiquee, ASM Abdur Rab, BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and BNP standing committee members Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, Brig Gen (Rtd) ASM Hannan Shah, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia and Nazrul Islam Khan, former DCC Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka Joint general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Zahangir Kabir Nankh and organizing secretary Khaled also attended function.

Other politicians, including Haider Akhbar Khan Rano, Manjurul Islam Khan, Bongo Bir Kader Siddique, former DACSU VP Mahmudur Rahman Manna, and Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed also visited the celebration programme.

Jatiya Party secretary general ABDM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Jatiya Party ( BJP) chairman Andalib Rahman Partho, Former Minister colonel (retird) Zafar Iamam, birbikram, Former Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka, FBCIC President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Former FBCCI Presidents Mir Nasir Hossain and Anisul Haque were also present on the occasion.

Among the other BNP leaders— Shah Moazzem, Abdullah Al Noman, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Mosaddek ali Falu, Barrister Haider Ali, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Adv. Ahmed Azam Khan, Maruf Kamal Khan, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Salah Uddin Ahmed, Rizbi Ahmed, wife of M Ilias Ali and his daughter, ANM Ehsan ul Haque Milon, Nazim Uddin Alam, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Abdus Salam, Syed Moazzem Hosen Alal, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, Nilofer Chowdhury Mony, Shafiul Bari Babu, senior vice-president of Jubo Dal Abdus Smad Azad, Joint Secretary of Jubo Dal Mir Newaz Ali and Mahbubur Rahamn also attended the function.

A traditional Mezban (feast) was also arranged on the occasion.

Singer SD Rubel, Beauty, Puja, Imran, Pulok, Arefin Rumi, Pritam, Rafat, Sahid and Lelin performed at the cultural show during the celebration.

A raffle draw was also held after the cultural show.
